Grade 3 and above have a writing task, so for those you will need one answer sheet. Grade 5 and Grade 4 have no writing task and no interview โ the result is decided by Reading and Listening alone. The listening clock varies slightly from paper to paper because it is fitted to that paper's recording โ the exact figure is always shown on the briefing screen before you press Begin.

We recommend doing the writing by hand on paper and sending a photograph โ it is the same as the real exam, and your teacher can see your handwriting. If that is not possible, you can type it straight into the screen instead.

Reading and Listening are marked automatically. Writing and Speaking are marked by a teacher. When the marking is finished, the Principal releases the result.

The real EIKEN CSE score is calculated statistically after every answer sheet in that round has been marked. The Eiken Foundation says plainly that candidates cannot work out their own score from the number of correct answers.
